Siming Zheng, who goes by Sam, is an award-winning filmmaker from Hohhot, China. Growing up in Beijing, Sam started their interest in the world of cinema from a very early age under the influence of their father. During their teenage years, Sam grew a strong fascination towards horror films. In 2011, they moved to the U.S. for high school. They graduated from University of California, Santa Cruz in 2020 with a duo B.A. of Theater Arts and Film & Digital Media with a production concentration. In 2022, Sam acquired a Film Directing Certificate from City College of San Francisco.
In 2025, Sam graduated from Loyola Marymount University, acquiring an M.F.A degree in film production with the track of Directing Fiction. They focus on body horror as a genre to express their observations of our society regarding feminism and queer theory, in hope to shed light on the issues and stories that are lesser known.
Sam currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
