Siming Zheng, who goes by Sam, is an award-winning filmmaker from Hohhot, China. Growing up in Beijing, Sam developed an interest in the world of cinema from a very early age under the influence of their father. During their teenage years, Sam grew a strong fascination with film and visual storytelling. In 2011, they moved to the U.S. for high school. They graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2020 with a dual B.A. in Theater Arts and Film & Digital Media with a production concentration. In 2022, Sam acquired a Film Directing Certificate from City College of San Francisco.

In 2025, Sam graduated from Loyola Marymount University, acquiring an M.F.A. degree in Film Production with the track of Directing Fiction. Their work focuses on storytelling through character, emotion, and visual expression, drawing from their observations of society, identity, and human experience in hopes of shedding light on issues and stories that are lesser known.

Sam currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
